The Deeper Meaning of the Postcard Project
This assignment was very important to showing the class why it was essential in design communication.
Overall, this project made us really think. Not only in the side of graphic design, but who we are as people as well.
In my case, I had to think about where I really want to be in the future. What do I want to do with my life? I obviously already had a plan of talking about sports in some capacity in my life. This project made me think what I would want to have as a really cool end goal in my career. Although it may be far fetched, having my own type of sports broadcasting station would become a dream come true in my life.
The decisions of which colors to us for this project was easy for me. The green and white background of the turf was used as a symbol for football. This shows how devoted I am to the game, and I believe this showed that. Also, I used black type over the background because it is one of the only colors that can show up well on both green and white.
On to my project, this taught me a lot. In terms of the background of my postcard, I used a picture of a football field and the turf that comes along with it. I was driven to use this image because it represents how much I truly am in love with sports, especially with football.
The fonts I used were sports oriented as well. The font of my title is very similar, if not exactly, the same font that ESPN uses for their logo. For the body copy, I wanted to use something that looked professional, yet not too boring. This symbolized that I want to broadcast sports in some shape or form in the future while being professional, but I still wanted to keep it fun and light-hearted, like my love for sports.
I think using InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop all together in our last project was very important. This showed how well we can use and understand all three programs. I am almost positive that you made this a requirement so we could portray what we have learned in your course.
